Barbarians are striking

It was just a chilly saturday. We had a walk through the cold Magdeburg, saw people iceskating in the Elbauenpark and went down to the old Elbe which was heavily covered with ice. It was pretty cold, around -7 degrees but we didn't freeze and I took a bunch of photos, I am really curious for the results (gonna have them developed first).
Had a really nice evening at André's place in the student's accomodations. He made really yummy fajitas and tomatoe soup. We played "Settlers of Catan" with the "Knights and cities" extension set which made the game more exciting (to be frank I think the normal "Settlers" is pretty boring …) – you can develop cities with libraries, market places etc. and have to defend your cities of the striking barbarians. Zanni and Ani joined us later and we played until almost 1am. Olaf has won.

Who's your inner european?

Your Inner European is Irish!

Sprited and boisterous!

You drink everyone under the table.

Who's Your Inner European?

… and as well as molli I am contemplating if I should consider this as good or bad ….

From Russia with love

We had the coldest night for this winter. And I tell you, it is _really_ cold. When I got up around 7:30 this morning we had -13 degrees celcius (8.6 degrees Fahrenheit). Berlin and the Zugspitze, with 2962m Germany’s highest mountain, had the same temperature of -18 degrees this night. Meteorologists say the cold is coming from Siberia. Two people in Saxony-Anhalt have frozen to death last night.

Hooray for the German post (irony intended)

:-O I am sooo angry about the German Post. Will they ever learn to do their business properly?* I ordered something on Dec 20 and was wondering why it was not delivered yet, although the shop stated to deliver within 4 – 7 workdays. So I called the shop today, asking where my order is. The shop owner was very friendly, checking the DHL tracking system immediately and telling me, he sees that DHL is returning the package to him. What the heck …? The shop delivered it on Dec 22 so the Post has maybe delivered it to me on Dec 24 when I was not at home. But instead of leaving a message, they just returned it – unbelievable. The shop owner also said, that they lose goods during delivery to their customers on christmas time very often – how can this be? Shame on you German Post!!! The shop owner will send the order again as soon as it returned to him .. so let's see when I will get it …

:motz: :motz: :motz:

* Sorry if you work at the Post, I am not offending you personally.

Site update

Finally I updated my homepage – i inserted some new pics and now you can send me a jabber message via my website.

Still learning

Today I fetched the developed photos I took with my new cam – although there are really some nice ones I noticed that I still need to learn and excercise how to handle it – some have a wrong focus or are just blurry. Well but anyway – check out the new pics at my flickr page if you like to.

Happy new year!

Well, although a bit belated, I wish my fellow readers a happy new year, full with joy, happiness, love and satisfaction.
We had a great silvester party with some friends in a holiday house at the Baltic Sea (thanks again to Big A and Robert for organizing). We had loads of snow, food, wine :-) and fresh air. The firework down at the beach was amazing and Christian even took a bath in the 3 degrees cold sea on January 1 (photos will follow soon). Thanks folks for the great time, we should repeat that some time!

2006 will be the year of changes – private as well as professional. I hope to finish my studies successfully and get the PhD scholarship I applied for (well that was really a load of work on the last days of the old year!) – or get a good job!
